Title: EFFECTIVENESS OF EYE CARE BUNDLE ON SELECTED EYE PROBLEMS AMONG NON-TEACHING STAFF
Authors: Raju, Aiswarya; A, Chitra; K.S., Gangothri
Abstract: Eye problems such as burning, itching, dryness, redness, blurred vision, and headache
are common among non-teaching staff due to occupational strain, poor ergonomics,
and lack of awareness about preventive eye care. An eye care bundle, comprising of
evidence-based practices may help to reduce the prevalence and severity of such
problems. Hence the study was undertaken with an aim to assess the common eye
problems among non-teaching staff and to evaluate the effectiveness of an eye care
bundle in reducing these problems.

Authors: BENNY, BINCY ANN BENNY; DIMBLE, ALLENDEENA MARIYA DIMBLE; A.R, SNEHA.A.R
Abstract: Oral cancer represents a significant public health concern both globally and in India, with its high prevalence largely associated with tobacco consumption and delayed diagnosis. Affected individuals experience not only physical challenges—such as facial disfigurement, persistent pain, and difficulties in speaking and eating—but also substantial psychosocial impacts, including anxiety, depression, and diminished quality of life. Research indicates that perceived social support can mitigate psychological distress and enhance emotional, cognitive, and social functioning. Nevertheless, there is a scarcity of studies in regions like Kolar. This study aimed to explore the associations between social support, quality of life, and mental health among patients with oral cancer

A Cross Sectional study of elder abuse among elderly at selected community areas, Kolar.

Title: A Cross Sectional study of elder abuse among elderly at selected community areas, Kolar.
Authors: T JOSE, ANSEL
Abstract: ABSTRACT

Introduction: Elder abuse is an under-recognized public health issue that continues to exist silently within families and communities, particularly in resource-limited settings. This study sheds light on the hidden prevalence and socio-demographic determinants of elder abuse among the aging population in a semi-urban region of Kolar, India.

Methods: A community-based cross-sectional survey was conducted among 150 older adults selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a standardized Geriatric Mistreatment scale. The prevalence of abuse and its association with selected socio demographic factors were analysed using Descriptive and Inferential statistics.

Results: The study revealed a considerable magnitude of elder abuse in the community. Significant associations were noted between elder abuse and age (p=0.0173), religion (p<0.00001), educational status (p<0.00001), marital status (p<0.00001), type of family (p=0.0158), and living arrangements (p<0.00001). However, gender, family size, and socio-economic status were not statistically significant contributors.

Discussion: Findings indicate that elder abuse is deeply influenced by socio-cultural and	family dynamics,	highlighting vulnerable	subgroups	within	the	elderly population—especially those with specific living arrangements, lower education, or lacking spousal support.

Conclusion: Elder abuse in semi-urban Kolar is strongly linked to selective socio- demographic determinants. Targeted interventions and culturally tailored community strategies are urgently needed to safeguard older adults and ensure dignified aging.
