Abstract: Adolescence is a crucial developmental period characterized by significant physical,
psychological, and emotional changes. Parental attachment and self-esteem are critical factors
influencing adolescents' mental well-being. To assess parental attachment and self-esteem levels
among adolescent girls and to examine their interrelationship. A descriptive correlational study
was conducted among 100 adolescent girls aged 16 to 18 years at SFS PU College, Tamaka, Kolar.
Data were collected using the Kenny’s Parental Attachment Questionnaire and the Rosenberg Self-
Esteem Scale. Statistical analyses included descriptive statistics, Pearson’s correlation, and Chisquare
tests to identify associations with demographic variables. The majority (80%) of
participants exhibited moderate parental attachment, while 55% had high self-esteem. A positive
correlation (r = 0.195, p < 0.05) was observed between parental attachment and self-esteem.
Significant associations were found between self-esteem and demographic variables such as age
and stream (p < 0.05). Strengthening parental bonds may positively impact adolescents' selfesteem
and overall psychological well-being. Further intervention studies are recommended to
explore effective strategies for fostering parental attachment.

Concepts and Issues Related to Adolescent Health in Society and Role of Nursing Education

Title: Concepts and Issues Related to Adolescent Health in Society and Role of Nursing Education
Authors: Malathi, K.V.; Vidhya Rani, G S; Tamil Selvi; Hephzibha, Keren I; Asha Latha, S
Abstract: Adolescents represent 18% of the world's population and are an important group for economic and social development [1]. Although considered a healthy group, globally adolescents face barriers in accessing health services [2]. An estimated 1.5 million adolescents aged 10-24 years died in 2021, approximately 4500 every day, from preventable or treatable conditions [3]. This represents a critical gap in healthcare delivery that demands immediate attention from healthcare professionals, particularly nurses who serve as primary care providers in many settings. Role of nurses and nursing education have crucial role to solve this worldwide problem and in this review article we will represent these all parameters [4]. The research highlights significant barriers in adolescent healthcare access including lack of knowledge about available services, system restrictions, long waiting times, and provider bias [5]. Mental health disorders now affect at least 1 in 7 adolescents globally, with particularly high rates of depression and anxiety [6]. Investment in adolescent well-being yields remarkable returns, with US$ 1 invested returning US$ 5-10 in economic benefits [7]. This comprehensive review synthesizes current evidence on adolescent health challenges and examines how enhanced nursing education can address these critical issues through evidence-based interventions and improved care delivery models.

Effect of Concept Mapping on Developing Clinical Judgement Among 2nd Year BSc Nursing Students

Title: Effect of Concept Mapping on Developing Clinical Judgement Among 2nd Year BSc Nursing Students
Authors: Adarsh Sikha, Kapil; Samuel, Devi
Abstract: Background: Nursing program aims to provide students with the necessary
skills to apply sound clinical judgment. Concept mapping fosters meaningful
learning and promotes critical thinking abilities that are essential for achieving
this goal. Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of concept mapping
methods among nursing students in developing clinical judgement skills.
Materials and Methods: A quasi-experimental pretest-post-test study design
was adopted. The study was conducted at Krupanidhi College of Nursing,
affiliated with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS). A convenient
sample of 41 second-year undergraduate nursing students during the
academic year 2022-2023 were divided randomly into experimental groups
(n=103) and control groups (n=103). The students were given case scenarios
and asked to make a care plan, and their clinical judgement was evaluated.
After a few days of the pre-test, the same group of students were given the
same case scenarios and asked to make a concept mapping to prepare a care
plan. Then, the clinical judgement of the students was evaluated. Pearson
Chi-square and Paired t-test were used for statistical analysis. Result: Most
of the students (n=4; 9.75%) were in the age group 20 years, and females
were predominant (n=30; 73.2%) compared to males (n=11;26.8%). Most
subjects, 34.1%, were Hindu, followed by 31.7% Christians, 24.4% Buddhist and
9.8% Muslim. The results showed a statistically significant difference between
pre- and post-awareness sessions among the study group regarding concept
mapping on clinical judgement (p<0.05). There was no correlation between
the students’ pre- and post-test clinical judgement skills with demographic
variables (p>0.05), except for the pre-test clinical judgement skills with gender.
Conclusion: Using concept mapping may provide an interactive way to foster
the growth of clinical judgment skills in nursing students.

Enhancing the care of neuro-oncological patients: Fundamental and useful concepts for nurses who specialize in neurorehabilitation

Title: Enhancing the care of neuro-oncological patients: Fundamental and useful concepts for nurses who specialize in neurorehabilitation
Authors: Yashvi, Gupta 1; Kavitha, P 2; Shivani Shashikant, Mahadik 3; Niharika, Tiwari 4; Jaineeta, 4; Chaudhary, Liji 4; Samiksha, Joshi 3, *
Abstract: Due to the variety of neurological abnormalities that these patients experience, the neuro-oncological population effectively conveys the complexity of neurological disability. Also, because of treatment advancements, patients with brain tumors live longer and need rehabilitation services. Even if their importance in this environment is acknowledged and their role is growing, the nurse's position in the interdisciplinary specialty of neurorehabilitation is not precisely defined.
The study aims to determine the fundamental skills that neurorehabilitation nurses should possess, which might be taught in a specialty course. According to the literature, advancing medical professionals' scientific and practical knowledge is necessary for the growth of rehabilitation. This organized training curriculum could be included in graduate nurse continuing education programs and undergraduate nursing education programs. For nurses to provide better overall care and care management for patients with extremely complex disabilities, such as those affected by brain tumors, they must become experts in neuro-rehabilitation. The next step will be to begin debating the creation of a specialization program in neurorehabilitation nursing at the level of scientific associations related to neurorehabilitation and cancer.
