Title: Enhancing the care of neuro-oncological patients: Fundamental and useful concepts for nurses who specialize in neurorehabilitation
Authors: Yashvi, Gupta 1; Kavitha, P 2; Shivani Shashikant, Mahadik 3; Niharika, Tiwari 4; Jaineeta, 4; Chaudhary, Liji 4; Samiksha, Joshi 3, *
Abstract: Due to the variety of neurological abnormalities that these patients experience, the neuro-oncological population effectively conveys the complexity of neurological disability. Also, because of treatment advancements, patients with brain tumors live longer and need rehabilitation services. Even if their importance in this environment is acknowledged and their role is growing, the nurse's position in the interdisciplinary specialty of neurorehabilitation is not precisely defined.
The study aims to determine the fundamental skills that neurorehabilitation nurses should possess, which might be taught in a specialty course. According to the literature, advancing medical professionals' scientific and practical knowledge is necessary for the growth of rehabilitation. This organized training curriculum could be included in graduate nurse continuing education programs and undergraduate nursing education programs. For nurses to provide better overall care and care management for patients with extremely complex disabilities, such as those affected by brain tumors, they must become experts in neuro-rehabilitation. The next step will be to begin debating the creation of a specialization program in neurorehabilitation nursing at the level of scientific associations related to neurorehabilitation and cancer.

Title: Effectiveness of multimodal intervention on perception of geriatric clients regarding health promotional outcomes at a selected hospital, Kolar, Karnataka, India
Authors: Vani, R*; Zeanath, C. J; Priya Reshma, Aranha
Abstract: Purpose: To understand the Perception of geriatric clients, that influence through Multimodal Intervention.
Materials and Methods: Quantitative approach Quasi-Experimental interventional controlled study with
pre-test post-test design and follow-up for two months, adopted by using purposive sampling technique
among 120 geriatric clients who gave consent for participation in the study at two different settings of
hospitals from July 2022 to January 2023, Kolar. After obtaining CEC, data was obtained using the
validated perception questionnaire and the Multimodal Intervention package consisting of a Snake &
Ladder Health promotion strategies game, Educational Video, and Informational pamphlet been distributed
to the experimental group whereas routine care given to the Control group followed by Posttest on the
30th day & 60th day. Reinforcement was carried out by the investigator on fortnightly basis reminders
through messages. Data were analyzed by using Descriptive & Inferential statistics such as RMANOVA,
Independent ‘t’-test, Paired ‘t’-test, and Chi-square.
Results: A significant effect was demonstrated in the experimental group with enhanced mean, SD from
pretest to posttest I and Posteest II found to be 35. 7.9, 46.3 6.1 and 48.3 4.7 without any significant
changes in the control group.
Conclusion: Geriatric population was the biggest beneficiary, Multimodal Intervention was proven to be
effective and can be implemented in hospitals, and community settings in improving the perception of
geriatric clients to foster healthy aging.

Title: Effectiveness of Enhanced Hands-on Skill in Implementation of Pediatric Early Warning Score (PEWS) Assessment among Staff on Patient Outcomes at PICU in a Selected Hospital Kolar
Authors: Prema, N1; Dr Lavaya, Shubhashini2; Dr Karthik, S3*
Abstract: Background: The ideology of underpinning Pediatric Early Warning Score (PEWS) is the
earlier recognition of deterioration in patients and would help to improve clinical outcomes. To
explore how the introduction of PEWS at a tertiary children’s hospital affects emergency
admission to Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and the impact on service delivery.
Subject and Method: A quantitative, pre experimental study was conducted to assess the
effectiveness of Pediatric Early Warning Score among 30 staff nurses. The performance was
assessed by using check list after Hands on skill training performance was assessed on Pediatric
Early Warning Score.
Results:The Pediatric Early Warning Score is compared between pretest and posttest found
statistically significant after Hands on skill training performancewhich is assessed by paired t test
[p=<001]. Thus it was evident that effective in improving the knowledge on Pediatric Early
Warning Score in PICU.
Conclusion: The overall findings of the study clearly stated that, it was effective in improving
the knowledge on Pediatric Early Warning Score among staff nurses.

Competency-based teacher education (CBTE): A training module to improve knowledge, attitude, and practices (KAP) of school teachers on learning disabilities in children

Title: Competency-based teacher education (CBTE): A training module to improve knowledge, attitude, and practices (KAP) of school teachers on learning disabilities in children
Authors: Zeanath Cariena, Joseph.; Ravichandran, Rajesh
Abstract: Introduction: Inclusive education is a new approach towards a system of educating children with disabilities and learning difficulties with that of normal ones within the same crown. Competency‑based teacher education (CBTE) is a framework in which teachers demonstrate their learned knowledge, attitude, and skills in order to achieve specific predetermined “competencies” for a specific course or at a specific educational institution. Children with learning disabilities have significant impairment in reading, writing, and mathematics in spite of normal intelligence and sensory abilities. Aim: The aim of the study was to evaluate the effectiveness of competency‑based teacher education (CBTE) training module on knowledge, attitude, and practices (KAP) of school teachers regarding learning disabilities in children. Materials and Methods: This was a Quasi experimental study carried out in the month of December 2020 using one group pretest and posttest design. Thirty‑five school teachers from a private school were randomly selected as study subjects who were handling classes for primary school students at Kolar. School teachers who had prior exposure in special schools and who had already worked as a counsellor were excluded from this study. Data were collected via a self‑administrated method with structured questionnaires consist of 150 items including sociodemographic profile, knowledge, attitude, and practice of teachers regarding learning disabilities in children; the data were analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Results: The findings indicated that mean post‑test knowledge score was 35.89, attitude score was 170.66, and practice score was 69.60. The effectiveness of CBTE training module was found to be statistically significant at P < 0.05 in terms of mean scores enhancement in knowledge, attitude, and practices. In terms of correlation between knowledge, attitude, and practices of school teachers on learning disabilities in children, it was found that there was a highly positive correlation between attitude and practice with r = 0.884, and knowledge and practice with r = 0.905. Conclusion: The CBTE training module is an effective method in enhancing the knowledge, changing the desirable attitude, and developing good skills of school teachers regarding the identification and management of learning disabilities.
